You are responsible to exercise caution for the fire, and be aware of your surroundings, including people, structures, etc. Do not place smudge pots on wood, grass, etc. That is capable of burning. Smudge pots can overflow onto the placement area causing fire.
Only place smudge pots on level ground on surfaces that can withstand flame and heat, that are non-combustible. Children need to stand clear from the fire, a minimum of 10-feet away. Always have a fire extinguisher within reach incase of emergencies. Buckets of sand is also suggested to keep at close proximity to help put out the fire.Regulatory: Not all states, campgrounds, parks, etc. Allow smudge pots or fire pits. It is your responsibility to know the rules of which you intend to have the fire, and abide by them.
